Councils and Committees

Over its history, SEMA has achieved recognition as the representative of an expanding specialty-equipment industry. The Board of Directors guided SEMA’s growth and efficiency based on the idea that the industry and the trade association are stronger when united.

What began as a manufacturers' association for speed equipment now includes a range of industry business functions and diverse product niches. The council program was developed to allow these various market niches to identify their unique challenges and opportunities and to better utilize the association’s resources.

A good starting place in reviewing the purpose of the councils is the association’s mission statement. The association exists to help our members succeed and prosper. It follows that the primary purpose of the councils is to identify and help SEMA deliver programs that will help these member companies do well.

With the above in mind, each SEMA council represents a group of SEMA members that share a common business purpose or market segment. The group should be able to identify common business goals, issues and challenges that require a special focus by the association. The councils should direct their energies toward achieving the group’s goals.

Association resources, which can be brought to bear, include special programs, services, conferences, trade shows, networking opportunities, recognition programs and the resources of SEMA’s departments.
